Why You Should Never Date a Trail Runner

Estimated read time: 3 minutes.

If you’re thinking about dating a trail runner, think again! There are plenty of reasons why this would be a bad idea. This blog post will discuss the top ten reasons why you should never date a trail runner. Keep reading to find out more.

Free Time Means More Running Time

Trail runners aren’t the type to plan romantic dates, weekend getaways, or anything else that a regular person might find interesting. Their weekend and free times are already set aside for running, so don’t expect to spend much time with your trail runner.

They’re Always Dirty

Running outside means that trail runners are constantly covered in dirt, mud, and other gross things. (Read about how to clean running shoes the right way).. If you’re not into being with someone who’s always dirty, then you should definitely stay away from dating a trail runner.

Trail Runners Rarely Shower

Not only do you have to deal with being with someone who’s always dirty, but you’ll also have to deal with the fact that they rarely shower. Trail runners often don’t have time for a proper shower after their runs, so you can expect them to smell a little bit funky.

You Won’t Be Their Priority

Trail runners will always put running first, and you will rarely come in second place. If you need help with something or want your partner’s attention, don’t expect them to drop everything and give it to you right away. They’ll be busy planning their next running adventure.

They’re Always Tired

Since trail running takes so much time and energy, trail runners often find themselves exhausted. Don’t expect to have much excitement with your trail runner because they will most likely want to go home and sleep once you’re done out for the night.

Trail Runners Are Always Hungry

Since trail runners burn so many calories, they are always hungry. This might be a good thing if you’re looking for someone to cook for you, but it can also get pretty annoying if your partner is always asking for food.

They Have Weird Eating Habits

Trail runners often have some pretty strange eating habits. They might eat nothing but raw eggs or only drink kale smoothies. There are many vegans and vegetarians in the trail running community, so If you’re not into eating like a health nut, then you should definitely stay away from dating a trail runner.

Every Trip Away Is a Runcation

Trail runners love to take trips away but don’t expect them to be fun and relaxing. Most of the time, these trips will involve running a bunch of trails in different areas. They will make it to a running vacation, and you will be left alone.

They Are Never on Time

Trail runners love to run and will often go for a run right before being somewhere. This is not always the best idea because you will most likely be waiting around while they finish their running routines.

They’re Always Sore

Since trail runners are constantly running, they often get sore muscles and joints. If you’re not into massages or don’t want to feel like you’re always having to help out your partner, then dating a trail runner probably isn’t for you.

Conclusion

Dating a trail runner can be challenging. Free time means more running, they’re always dirty and rarely shower, you’ll never come first in their priority list of things to do, they are constantly tired (and probably won’t want to go out with you), every trip will involve running trails… the list goes on! If you’re not into any of these things, then it’s probably best to stay away from dating a trail runner. On the other hand, if you are okay with all of these quirks, you might be able to make it work. The proverb “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” comes to mind! 🙂 Good luck!
